Predicted 5-Year Cost to Own: $44,300
Big news: The new kid on the block, the 2020 Chrysler Voyager – recently brought to market as an affordable version of the Chrysler Pacifica – has dethroned the Honda Odyssey as the Best Minivan in KBB’s 2020 5-Year Cost to Own Awards.
How has Chrysler’s newest minivan accomplished this? Simple: As a de-contented Chrysler Pacifica with a KBB Fair Purchase Price well below $30,000, the new Voyager represents a lot of vehicle for the money. It’s more than $6,000 less expensive than a Pacifica, and, frankly, not all families want active cruise control, automatic emergency braking or lane-keeping assist in their minivans. Nor do these families require power side doors and a power hatch, two niceties you won’t find on the Voyager.
At its core, the new 7-passenger 2020 Chrysler Voyager is a Chrysler Pacifica. It comes equipped with the same attractive body, the same eager 3.6-liter V6 engine, and the same smooth-shifting 9-speed automatic transmission. Even though it’s a value-priced Pacifica, the Voyager is by no means a stripped-down model. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard, as is Chrysler’s impressive Uconnect infotainment system with a 7-inch touchscreen.
A tip from our Expert Review: “No matter which trim you choose, we highly suggest adding the SafetyTec package. For $495 it includes blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-path alert, rear parking sensors, and one-touch power windows. A 3-zone climate zone is also available, as is a cold-weather package that includes heated front seats, heated and leather-wrapped steering wheel, security alarm and remote vehicle start. A DVD rear-seat entertainment system is available in Voyager LX models.”
As an affordable Pacifica without some hardware that not everybody wants, the 2020 Chrysler Voyager has snagged the title of Best Minivan in the KBB 2020 5-Year Cost to Own ratings.
