Predicted Resale Value After 5 Years of Ownership: 50.4%
Even amid rising competition in one of the most popular segments for car shoppers, the Subaru Crosstrek has retained its crown to boast the best resale value among subcompact SUVs. Now in its second generation, the Crosstrek is essentially a ruggedized version of the practical Subaru Impreza hatchback.
The 2021 Subaru Crosstrek appeals with its excellent blend of versatility, safety features, and efficiency that’s all wrapped in a small package ready for adventure. Like other Subarus and unlike its rivals, every Crosstrek has standard all-wheel drive. Bolstering its call-of-the-wild ways are ample ground clearance and special off-road-oriented drive systems.
For 2021, the Subaru Crosstrek has gotten even better thanks to an optional, more powerful engine. A new 2.5-liter 4-cylinder that’s available on Sport and Limited trims puts out a heartier 182 horsepower — 30 more than the standard 2.0-liter engine. The Crosstrek further bucks conventions by offering a manual transmission. Also, there’s a plug-in hybrid model that can go 17 miles on battery power alone.
Wherever the Crosstrek takes you, it’s also got your back in the key areas of infotainment and safety. All models include Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration, while models equipped with the CVT automatic transmission have the EyeSight system that bundles features like automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, and adaptive cruise control. The Subaru Crosstrek ranges in price from $22,245 to roughly $28,000, while the limited-availability Crosstrek Hybrid is closer to $35,000. Whichever model you choose, you can be sure you’re getting an adventurous partner that will also satisfy when it’s time to sell.
