Best Midsize Car Resale Value: 2020 Subaru Legacy

Predicted Resale Value After 5 Years of Ownership: 37.9%

BRVA-best-resale-value-awards-logo-240To compete successfully in a category populated by heavyweights like the Honda Accord and Toyota Camry, you’d better be good. But the all-new 2020 Subaru Legacy is more than just good; it’s a great all-wheel-drive sports sedan that has just been named Best Mid-Size Car in the 2020 KBB Best Resale Value Awards. This marks the second win in a row for the Legacy, which now boasts a state-of-the art infotainment system, greatly improved interior materials and a robust new chassis shared by the Outback wagon.

What makes the Legacy hold its value? For starters, Subarus traditionally hold up well. Owners also tend to really like their Subarus and hang onto them for a long time, so there aren’t as many used ones on the market. Nor should we forget about the Legacy’s substantial improvements for 2020.

In our Expert Review of the 2020 Subaru Legacy, we praised the all-wheel-drive midsize sedan for having more interior room, a stiffer body structure and a more responsive chassis, along with standard EyeSight safety and various driver assists on all the trim levels. More from our Review: “This all-new Legacy delivers on Subaru’s traditional values while elevating the brand with a revamped approach to infotainment with a large tablet-style touch screen, a more luxurious interior with high-grade materials and much improved sound insulation, which greatly lowers noise, vibration and harshness.”

Buyers can choose between a 2.5-liter flat-4 engine with 182 horsepower or a turbocharged 2.4-liter flat-4 with 260 horsepower, both mated to a continuously variable automatic transmission.
