Predicted Resale Value After 5 Years of Ownership: 42.0%
Putting the sport in sport-utility, the 2021 Porsche Macan is yet again the top compact luxury SUV when it comes to Best Resale Value. The Macan blends handsome styling with performance-car performance in a package that has won the admiration of Porsche loyalists and those who are new to the brand.
The proof of this is Macan’s popularity. By far, it’s the best-selling model for the brand, racking up over 18,000 sales — a third of Porsche’s volume. High performance is Porsche’s stock-in-trade, and the Macan delivers on this score as well. Buyers can start with a base model that boasts 248 horsepower from its turbocharged 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine. Or they can step up to the S model that pumps out 348 horsepower from a 2.9-liter V6.
It wouldn’t be a true Porsche if there weren’t a range-topping Turbo model in there somewhere, and Macan doesn’t disappoint with a turbo V6 that makes 434 horsepower. Owners can sprint to 60 mph in as little as 4.3 seconds with the Turbo and top out at 167 mph. Even the base model is no slouch with its 6.3-second 0-60 mph capability. And on top of all this performance is an all-wheel-drive system that gives Macan surefooted handling.
Porsche doesn’t skimp on the luxury in this compact SUV. It offers the same level of attention to detail that you expect from the German automaker. It uses high-quality materials and a cockpit design that mimics the setups found in its larger Cayenne sibling. That helps justify prices that range from $52,100 for a base model up to the Turbo’s $84,600 MSRP. In between are the S and GTS trim levels.
Thanks to its broad product lineup, classic styling, and high-performance levels, the Porsche Macan retains 42 percent of its value. Since 2016, the Macan has topped Kelley Blue Book’s Best Resale Value Award for luxury compact crossover SUVs and continues to build on that strength in this highly competitive segment.
