Predicted Resale Value After 5 Years of Ownership: 43.1%
For the seventh time in eight years, the Subaru Impreza has retained its crown as the top Compact Car in the KBB Best Resale Value Awards. Could it be that Subaru owners just don’t like parting with their beloved Imprezas? Or does the buying public simply know the utter dependability of the Impreza sedan and hatchback?
Probably a little bit of both, actually. One thing’s for certain, though: The 2021 Subaru Impreza, in sedan or hatchback form, shines as an affordable all-wheel-drive sedan or hatchback.
From our KBB Expert Review: “The Subaru Impreza is the least-expensive vehicle in the automaker’s lineup, yet it is a standout among compact cars. That’s because unlike rivals such as the Honda Civic, Toyota Corolla, and Nissan Sentra, the Subaru comes standard with all-wheel drive, a real boon for drivers who regularly deal with slippery roads and foul weather.
“And the Impreza is far more than a one-trick pony. It is available as both a sedan or hatchback, offers the choice of a manual transmission in addition to a continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT), and can be had with Subaru’s laudable EyeSight system of safety and driver-assistance features.”
While the Impreza’s standard 2.0-liter flat-4 engine has only 152 horsepower, this Subaru makes up for its lack of pace with a compliant suspension, easy everyday driving manners, and a proven record of reliability and resale. And with a starting price of only $18,795, the Impreza is the most affordable all-wheel-drive new car sold in the U.S.
Affordably priced and dependable while also being capable in all weather and able to return up to 36 mpg on the highway, the 2021 Subaru Impreza is tough to beat.
