The Right Combination for You
The 2023 Ford Expedition is available in six different trim levels, ranging from the 5-passenger XL STX base model to the top-of-the-line Platinum. The 3.5-liter EcoBoost engine is available with three power levels: 380 horsepower, 400 horsepower, or the High Output option. This version of the EcoBoost, with 440 horsepower and 510 lb-ft of torque, is available with the Timberline and the Stealth Performance Edition. And if you need more cargo space, the Expedition Max, the long-wheelbase Expedition, offers more room for gear behind the third row, bringing total cargo space to a whopping 121.5 cubic feet.
While the base XL STX Expedition comes nicely equipped, you can level up to get plenty of goodies. Comfort is a main theme with the Expedition. You can get seats that are heated (first and second rows) and cooled, power folding and reclining, and massaging. Whether you’re going on a road trip, towing a heavy trailer, or both, it’s easy for you and your passengers to enjoy the trip. Other available features include a panoramic moonroof and a 22-speaker premium audio system.
However, going up the trim ladder is not just a matter of adding features. The Expedition offers some specialized trim levels. For example, the Timberline is outfitted to be the most off-road capable of the group. Its 10.6 inches of ground clearance, heavy-duty skid plate, and off-road-tuned suspension make it easier to visit the backcountry. The Timberline uses a 2-speed transfer case and 32-inch all-terrain tires. There’s plenty of handy tech, too. Trail Control manages the throttle and brakes, allowing you to focus on navigating the trail. Trail Turn Assist can make the Expedition’s turning radius tighter.
Helpful Tech
But those aren’t the only tech features that the Expedition offers — not by a long shot. The Expedition comes standard with SYNC 4 infotainment that runs through a 12-inch touch screen. It comes with its own navigation, or you can wirelessly connect via Apple CarPlay or Android Auto. SYNC 4 also allows for over-the-air updates and Wi-Fi for up to 10 devices. Ford also offers a 12.4-inch digital gauge cluster and a 15.5-inch touchscreen.
And Ford Co-Pilot360, the company’s suite of driver-assist features, includes many advanced safety features, several of which are standard. The blind-spot information system also takes your trailer into account. BlueCruise hands-free driving tech is available. For people who want to use the Expedition to tow, Pro Trailer Backup Assist 2.0 lets you back up your trailer with the turn of a knob. There’s also pre-collision assist, lane centering, reverse brake assist when parking, evasive steering assist, and more.
