Positive Review
This is my 4th Audi. I bought the S4 to replace my A5. This car is a safety oriented German tank to take my son to daycare in, then I can take it to the track and beat several Porsches in the afternoon. It gets a combined MPG of about 21. My particular car is the prestige edition with navigation and Bang and Olufsen audio. While some may miss the V8 "burble" of S4's past, the supercharged V6 is quicker and seriously efficient. I drive a 50 mile commute each day and this really adds up. I'd recommend installing a different intake to actually hear the supercharger though. Many critics of the car have taken issue with the Drive Select feature. In "comfort" mode, the steering is artificially light, and in the other modes it provides relatively little feedback as compared to other cars of this performance level. I agree. In the drivetrain, 7 speed dual clutch gearbox shifts quickly enough, and the sport rear diff which has basically cured the typical Audi understeer. If you track it, you'll wish the brakes were just a bit bigger and grabbier and that there was a bit less body roll in hard turns. If you're looking for a pure, visceral experience, this is not the car for you. But, if you're an enthusiast looking for a realistic daily driver, packed with technology, and that can still hold its own on a track day, look no further. Buy the S4.
Critical Review
Audi A4 2010 - 40k mi I love driving my car and the look and feel of it, but that is where it ends. I wish I had never bought it. Its in the shop at least once every six months and they have to fix several things every time its in. So Far:Excessive oil consumption, replace Water Pump, Hood sensor, dead battery, blown fuses, windshield defects, valve leaks and much more. If you have plenty of time to waste taking it to the shop, its a great car for you!

Strong, fun and reliable daily driver.
Small for family. Otherwise ideal.
Bought used two years with 12k miles. Black on black, 6 speed manual, 2015. The 3.0 L supercharger engine performed flawlessly, pulling strong throughout the power curve. Grin inducing acceleration. Nimble steering, albeit heavy in comparison to the BMW M series. Not a knock…loved this car, but it’s a solid heavy platform that while confidence inspiring is not as quick flicking from side to side on tight curvy roads (swapped cars for a an hour with a M2 manual and we swapped notes post ride). Everyone that knows cars and has driven this has raved about it. The Quattro system is wonderful in inclimate weather. The Audi transported me to ski slopes in blizzard and/or icy conditions on several occasions. Found that I was good without dedicated snow tires. Lots of varying conditions over the 5 years I had this as my daily, and I would trust this car to get me to my destination safely and enjoying myself along the way. Connection to vehicle with a 6 speed manual, while perhaps not as quick as a PDK system, is a much more pleasing and engaging experience. The cabin layout and quality was ideal. Very high quality, well appointed, and no flaws appeared over my ownership. The stereo rocked, seats and driving position comfortable and firm. Very solid at high speeds and around town. So why am I parting with the perfect sedan? My young children have turned to teenagers and the back seats can hold them, but not as comfortably as a SUV or larger car. After months of wrestling with the decision decided not to keep the car laying around as it’s not a dedicated sports car. I find myself driving either the Tesla X or BMW X545e instead as I’m choosing interior space and elevated position over sporty experience. Also starting to like charging at home vs gas stations. Were it not for family considerations I would have kept the S4 for the entirety of its useful life, as I trust the reliability of this bulletproof engine and transmission and am sad to part with it. Time for someone else to enjoy.
Only made for the best
Best car ever! All around winner! Even with the newer platforms this car is worth every penny. Audi is my pick over all other German engineering.
joy to drive, acceleration, braking, handling
heavy, no hitch or towing capability
The S4 is not the best autocross car, but it is the best for everything else. Superior handling, wonderful power, creature comforts, reliability, quality ... everything is just excellent.
Fast and Fun
Expensive to fix
I really love this car. My last car was a Corvette. I needed a back seat cause I have a family. This car runs like a dream and gets up and goes. Of all the cars I have ever owned...this one is by far my favorite with the Vette coming in 2nd.

Best overall car I've ever had, and I have had 40 vehicles now. The AWD system keeps the car stuck on the road no matter the condition/weather. The acceleration is top notch, and if you take it easy the MPG is very good as well (27 on highway for me). This may not seem impressive to all you Civic/Corolla drivers, but you also don't have 333 HP at your toes. The only con with this vehicle, is the same as any European/German, maintenance. Regular maintenance is pricey and it is often. If you're not a DYI on cars, this vehicle will get expensive very quickly to maintain. Repairs were very little for myself, I have had it for 5 years, and the only thing I've had to take it to a dealership for was covered under a KB. I purchased this car as I transport 1 wife, and 2 kids frequently. I live in a big city where I require good acceleration so I do not die from these overly aggressive drivers. This car has not disappointed!
Quattro, Prestige, Carbon, DSG
Waterpump and Thermostat can be problematic
This car has quite a following and now I can understand why. It delivers refined luxury and comfort with refined performance in such a balanced way it just makes it a pleasure to drive.
Supercharger gives this car all the power you need
None
Honestly, this is a wonderful, reliable vehicle that gets me where I need to go each day with no issues. Other than typical maintenance and new tires, this car is rock solid.
I LOVE this car. Incredibly smooth refined solid .. feels like a rolling bank vault. Interior design is understated efficiency and elegance with beautiful material. The napa leather is sumptuous. Has great power and wonderful handling. You feel like you could drive it around the world. Gets about 21 mpg in mixed driving. 26 on hiway long trip. I have no regrets in purchasing this fine instrument of driving pleasure.
