Positive Review
Drives like a dream, plenty quick, handles well, doesn't attract any attention at all, and very comfortable inside. Reliability is not too bad for a Euro car, but be aware when buying that this is a very low production volume car, and European as well, so parts will be expensive and most jobs are not possible in your driveway unless you are a pro mechanic and already have experience working on this car. If you're buying, buy one in very good condition and with a thorough service history - buying a cheap one will land you in a position I have seen MANY times - with a car that's broken and undriveable in just a few months, and stuck with either selling a dead car or paying $5k-$10k to get it back on the road. Also, unless you are a Euro mechanic, strongly consider the $3k-$4k for an extended warranty, as it will pay itself back quickly. Don't buy one with high mileage and/or without a thorough service history, as they are expensive to maintain and some owners do not take head of this fact. Also, when in doubt, find a dealership you can trust; some parts of this car are too complicated for even a good Euro shop to work on. Overall, if you can afford to buy a nice one and can afford to maintain it (remember, this is a $50,000 German luxury sports car), then by all means BUY IT! You won't see many on the road or for sale. As long as you're not looking for the boy racer flare of a red Corvette, this car will do everything you want (including keep up with that Corvette).
Critical Review
The car looks great, sounds great, and drives great when its working. Its the most expensive car Ive ever bought, and has caused me the most trouble of the many cars Ive owned. After multiple malfunctions, a typical minor repair over 1000, and a major one from 3000 to 8000, and with the next big repair maybe just one drive away, I could not recommend this car to anyone. And thanks to this car I will NEVER buy another Audi.

Always fun to drive
Be ready to spend a lot of $$ at the gas station
Very few cars built compare to driving a S4. The combination of a small car with a V-8 engine is brilliant. It's like a small German muscle car yet with incredibly nimble handling and stability - it's very difficult to break this car loose.
Great value, performance and dependable
None
Probably one of the fastest cars I've ever owned or driven, which includes Porsches, Jaguar XKE, Lotus, 1969 Z-28, Ferari 412 and various corvetes. Well balanced and not at all tempermental. Great combination of acceleration and cornering. Excellant quality and finish. Reasonable MPG (for the level of performance) and low mainentnace expenses from my experience. But don't forget to change the timing belt as specified and keep the lower left radiator duct area clean, sand collects and holds moisture and will cause radiator to leak over time. I had a glove box hing break and that is it. Other than those items I've had NO problems at all. Thats pretty good for the 94,200 miles in my opinion. No oil leaks, interior looks new, orignal paint shines, etc. It still turns heads for those who know what an S4 is.
Its a great car its a little nose heavy and the back seats are small for a adult but the 6-speed is great and and the power is great for merging onto the highway
Fun to drive, steering, AWD for winter driving
gas, maintenance costs
You have to know what you are getting into - a REALLY fun car to drive that will be in the shop and at the gas station all the time. Beats BMW M3 in value and comparable in performance AWD for the winters. If you can get over the maintenance and gas costs, you'll love this car like I have.
Fun to drive, sleeper, practical, comfortable
Expensive to own, no exotic looks

Blast to drive, looks great, Quattro
poor gas mileage - that's the only detractor
Perhaps the perfect car - so fun to drive. Engine sounds unbelievable. Avant gives you plenty of room. Quattro makes it the year round sports car.
