Positive Review

"Best car I have ever driven."

Have had this car for about three months and absolutely love it. Comfortable, fast, roomy, and fuel efficient. I only gave it a 9 for quality because there is one interior trim piece that is a little out of place, but otherwise this car is quality and performance like I have never seen. Having had several Mercedes, and also Subaru, Toyota and Jeep SUVs I can say this is for sure the best ride of all. Performs well in the snow as well.

"Drives nice but a maintenance nightmare"

I purchased the Q7 after extensive research and knowing Consumer Reports rated it highly (in 2018). But, numerous maintenance issues overshadow nice ride and other attributes. 1. A/C has failed SEVEN times. Numerous leaks and 2 replacements of Evaporator. Warranty covered what would have been $10k+ cost. 2. Incredibly noisy squealing brakes which is common (and embarrassing) and documented in CA class action lawsuit. 3. Goodyear Eagle tires start pitting/shredding after a few thousand miles (2 sets so far at $1700 each). 4, Muffler just broke for no reason. 3 visits to resolve recalls. At this price tag, one should expect a luxury experience. These were but a few of numerous maintenance issues. After owning many SUV's I cannot trust this one now that it's out of warranty. It bothers me to dump a vehicle just when the bulk of depreciation is gone but I cannot live with the stress this vehicle has caused. I'm done!

Great car with a few flaws
Pros

Very nice fit/finish. Drives well.

Cons

Panel lights go off a lot. Tiny back cup holders. Phone charger overheats phone.

Performance wise, this is a great car. It drives as if it has more horsepower than it actually does, handling between a sport, and sleek drive. It's a great car to meet your needs in most ways; Very comfortable to ride in, and nice interior; Expensive to maintain though, and not the best company to work with when something under warranty does go wrong. Panel lights go off a lot. Never are truly fixed. When the temperature drops below freezing outside, a lot of features are frozen, like high beams, lka, etc. It's very annoying. Design flaws: cupholders in back are only large enough to hold a toddlers sippy cup. Nothing bigger. Phone charger that is hidden away inside a console with no breathability will overheat your phone.

Prestige line - Great vehicle
Pros

spacious with a third row, smooth ride and handling

Cons

no remote start (standard european practice supposedly)

Maybe too soon for a review as I’ve had it only a week, but so love this vehicle. Great ride, the interior is comfortable and the controls are well placed for easy access with minimal distraction

Burns a lot of oil
Pros

Comfortable

Cons

horirble reliability with bad customer support

Was excited about this car until it started burning lots of oil. Talked to the local dealership and Audi Customer support until I was blue in the face. Come to find out it was a very common problem with defecrtive piston rings. Wont buy an Audi again.

Beautiful 2023 Q7

Very happy (so far) with the Audi found thru Autotrader. Was able to compare prices based on the numerous Autotrader listings. Negotiated a reasonable deal as well (I believe).

Stealth Sports Car
Pros

Power in a family SUV

Cons

Insurance and maintenance cost

Just bought my SQ7 a month ago and I am super impressed. The twin turbo V8 makes you smile with all the power it provides. It took me a while to get used to all the tech and I am still learning. Overall I am please with the two center screens and the driver screen is very nice. I got the Prestige trim and enjoy the additional features that come with it. Fit and finish is very good and this is the second Audi I have owned and love how the interior looks and is designed. I was looking for a regular Q7 and this one was available at a good price so I decided to bust my budget and purchase it. I am not disappointed. I'm averaging 21 MPG on the highway and don't think that is bad going 80 mph. The only thing I could warn someone about, is the insurance cost for this vehicle are much higher that a regular SUV. I think the joy I get from driving it is well worth it!

Smooth ride but needs numerous improvements
Pros

Smooth ride and decent gas mileage

Cons

MMI, poor storage, dangerous lane keeping assist

I have owned the 2023 Q7 Premium Plus for over a year. The car is smooth and nice to drive. However, quite a few improvements are needed to create value in ownership. Storage space in the car is woefully lacking. The only decent storage are the front door pockets. Otherwise, everything needs to go in the back behind the 3rd row seating. The center console has enough space for a phone (wireless charger) and one snicker bar. I can’t quite understand what the Audi engineers were thinking when they decided to put the wireless charger in this tight space. The phone gets scalding hot on longer drives lasting more than 30 minutes with the lid closed. You have to remember to open the lid often to dissipate the heat and bear the discomfort of not being able to rest your arm until you get tired and slam the lid shut. The other gripe is cup holders. Again, Audi - what the heck? There are two cup holders in the front that bear any semblance of a cup holder and that’s it for a 7-seater car. There are two little holes in the middle seat that could potentially fit a super narrow bottle but absolutely not the regular sized water bottle or even a coffee cup. Rear doors have ash trays with a soft close/open lid on the door handles. Again, no idea what the idiots were thinking. Coukd they not have eliminated this wasted feature and instead maximized storage? Ok, for the third row… that’s just torture if you are relegated to those seats. It has a power open/close feature for the 3rd row which is awfully nice of Audi to provide (obviously with an incredibly high mark-up) but very impractical. I would rather just have a manual 3rd row just like the 2nd row but instead will graciously accept more room and comfortable seats in the back. The MMI and the over-engineered electronics are a nuisance. About once or twice every week it malfunctions and takes a long time to load after starting the car. My iPhone 14 Pro rarely connects to the MMI via Bluetooth after I start the car. I have to fiddle with the MMI controls and my phone to connect. Alexa that’s built in the MMI rarely works. Amazon music doesn’t work either most times. Spotify that should work either via Siri or Alexa doesn’t, due to these connection issues. Apple customer service was super helpful and very methodical with trouble shooting and follow-ups and even brought Audi customer service on conference call. It was finally diagnosed as an Audi issue (Audi agreed) but unfortunately without a fix over the phone. I was asked to take the car to the dealer for repair and the dealer after having the car for a day couldn’t do anything to resolve this issue. Audi called me after about 3 weeks or so to tell me they are working on an update for this issue. A year later, the issue still persists. The ride… it’s quite comfortable and smooth both on local roads and the highway but as I have noted above, the electronics are a pain. The one dangerous feature that Audi has to immediately fix is the lane keeping assist and the jarring lane correction the system makes while driving. I am surprised that there haven’t been accidents due to this feature. The feature performs ok on a straight road and you are actively engaged with the steering control, however it can be very scary when the road divides or at a ramp and you are actively trying to keep the car in lane. It suddenly jerks to the side and can easily cause the driver to lose control of the car and cause a life-threatening accident. Audi - please take responsibility for this and fix this issue now on the cars you’ve sold with this dangerous lane keeping assist feature. Overall, these issues aside, the car is ok to drive and looks nice overall both inside and outside. This is my first German car; I hope it’s reliable and I can say after a few years it wasn’t a bad decision to purchase this after all. Time will tell…
