Positive Review
all recos point to buying prem plus trim, but for a few xtra buy the prest with drive assist. esp with the deals that i got during the nov-dec month almost equals the price of a prestige close to a prem plus. driver assist pkg is awesome to use esp on hwy.
Critical Review
Ive had Q5, plug in hybrid for 6 months now. There are a few things i wish were different. Definte lag when accelerating from stop sign. Super noisy and loud while backing up. Very whiney noise while driving electric mode. My car in particular has a super sensitive back up system and brakes automatically when nothing is in the way. No room at all in the center console. The back up system beeps at everything and anything. Im not fond of the seats. I had an acura MDX previously and for some reason Audi seats are not as comfortable. What I like is not filling up with gas all the time. I get about 20 miles per charge on electric. Less gas is the whole reason I purchased this car. It seems like a luxury car but the lack of space anywhere in the front seat counteracts any good feel of the car.

Sleek look and smooth ride
It's been in the shop 3 times since the warranty expired.
I will never invest in another Audi. Once the warranty expired the troubles started. First it was replacing the motor mounts, then the transfer case module and now the transfer differential case. I've been told this is a known issue; however, since it's not a safety hazard it will not be recalled. This has been a money pit. $10,000 later....
I adore this car.
The gas is not cheap.
I had a Q3 for the longest time, I decided it was best to get a bigger car after my old car's engine gave up on me. I got the Q5, I have had it for almost a year. The Q5 is one of the best cars I have had ever, it's comfortable and not too big. I love the 261 horsepower, the pickup is amazing and it's a fun drive. I adore my Q5, I think I plan on getting another one in the future. Praying this one lasts me a long time.
Great safety features, very stylish and beautiful.
Just a few little quirks
The Q5 is a great vehicle! It handles well, is very roomy, good looking, ands has all the safety bells and whistles. It’s incredibly easy to drive, and the driver assistance really bumps that up a notch as well. Truly a compact luxury SUV beyond par. I am surprised how roomy it is as well. To call it compact is a misnomer! Thus is a must vehicle!
The car drives great but the software that runs everything from radio to climate is awful. It is confusing and hard to operate - my wife who has an engineering degree had to have two long appointments just to learn how to work - and still was confused. Have had people at the dealership and a repair place tell me there are always problems with the technology. I also have a Ram truck same year and it is 100 times better in that regard. They should be able to get that right.
I traded in a 2017 Q-5 to lease the 2021 Plug-in and get the California HOV sticker. It was very disappointing that the Hybrid batteries occupy the space under the rear cargo area (where a spare tire would fit) because the area provided space to keep a slew of items such as owner's manual, gloves, spare prescription glasses, tire air compressor, etc. This is particularly important space since the console between the front two seats is tiny and difficult to access. The batteries also forced Audi to reduce the size of the gas tank from 18.5 gal. to 14.3. That costs about 110 miles of ICE range in exchange for only about 20 miles BEV range. You are on fumes at about 375 miles, which is a big deal if your two homes are 390 miles apart. Because I did not install a 240v charger for a mere 20 miles, I use the standard 3 prong wall socket for charging. The car will only gain about 1.5 miles per hour of charging. The dashboard gage will display 31 miles range on electric, but that is an illusion. You will get 20 miles, plus or minus and will need all night and then some to get a full charge from a totally dead hybrid battery if you just use a standard plug. I've been quite negative about these aspects of the Audi, but in fact when my lease ends in 2024 I intend to lease a 2024 Q-5e. Journalists have reported that the vehicle will receive a new, slick trim and come with 40 BEV mile range, which is critically important for my personal driving habits.
Superb ride and handling. Average mileage 30 mpg on premium. Ventilated sport seats keep me comfortable Year round. Fantastic service Audi Silver Spring.
Comfortable ride, interior quality, handling
Cargo space,
Owning it for 2 years. Some small issues with driving safety system - when pulling back sometimes it breaks without any reason. I think parking markings could be misidentified by cameras as some distraction. Handling is great. You “feel” the car on every corner. Averaging 26 mpg , of mixed driving. Also I wish the trunk space would be larger.
Everything !!!
None !!!
I have a mint 2008 Audi A4 1.0 Sline and love it I just bought my wife 2022 Audi Q5 Quattro Sportback "Ultra Blue" and this thing drives like a BEAST and is so fast, smooth and comfortable... Everything about this car is absolutely amazing I don't know if I got a great one but there is not one thing wrong from the cool Ultra Blue "BIG BLUE" will silver spoilers and the 20 inch fantastic rims not including a killer interior this is buy far the best Audi you can buy and kills the looks over the BMW & Mercedes in ever area - Period !!! Plus I was smart and spent an additional 5K so everything - I mean everything on this car is guaranteed until 2028 !!!! 😊👍 - BOOM !!!!
