The 2025 Audi A6 Allroad midsize luxury wagon mixes posh with practicality in its own particular way. Pricing starts at $71,795.
From townhouse to country getaway, the A6 Allroad is ideal for moving between the two. This is a prestigious luxury car with abundant tech and style, yet it’s capable of carrying more than its A6 sedan counterpart, thanks to a practical cargo area. The A6 Allroad is a wagon with a raised ride height, standard all-wheel drive (AWD), and SUV-like exterior details. Yet it drives more like a sophisticated sedan, thanks in part to its lower center of gravity.
This Audi fits into a specialized niche. And one that may not exist for much longer. The usual A6 is giving its name to a new all-electric midsize luxury sedan, the A6 e-tron, while the A7’s sleeker Sportback design doesn’t lend itself to a wagon-ish character. Like the smaller A4 Allroad, the A6 Allroad’s days are numbered.
The regular Audi A6 sedan is reviewed separately.
We’ve logged hundreds of hours driving and evaluating this generation of midsize luxury cars, including the A6 Allroad.
More standard equipment includes dual-pane acoustic glass, manual shades for the rear side windows, 4-zone automatic climate control, powered lumbar adjustment for the front passenger, heated rear seats, and road sign recognition. The top Prestige trim gains upgraded front seats with massaging, and extended high-quality leather upholstery. The Homelink remote garage door button is now integrated into the rearview mirror, and the free Audi Connect Nav trial subscription is increased from six months to three years.
The 2025 Audi A6 allroad has a starting sticker price of $71,795, with the range-topping A6 allroad 55 TFSI Prestige kicking off at $77,895. But Kelley Blue Book Fair Purchase Pricing currently suggests paying $1,699 to $3,999 less than MSRP, depending on trim and equipment. These prices are updated weekly.

If your heart is set on an A6 Allroad, the Premium Plus has a lot of standard equipment. The Prestige trim sells in similar numbers, however.
The only direct rivals are the Mercedes-Benz E 450 4Matic All Terrain, which starts closer to the A6 Allroad Prestige yet is much younger. Or the older Volvo V90 Cross Country, starting below the A6 Allroad, although with less equipment than an Audi Premium Plus trim. If a plush SUV with two seating rows could work, there’s the pricier Audi Q8. Or going in the other direction, the compact Audi A4 Allroad is appreciably more affordable even in its highest trim.
Before buying a new A6 Allroad, check the Kelley Blue Book Fair Purchase Price to know what you should pay. The A6 Allroad has some of the strongest resale values in the luxury midsize car class. Recouping more money when selling a vehicle can mean a bigger down payment and lower monthly payments on the next one.
The A6 Allroad employs a turbocharged V6, making 335 horsepower. A subdued thrum is the only audible indication that this refined turbocharged engine is doing any work. We’ve found that it propels the A6 Allroad with authority — gently in town or on a dirt trail, forcefully on the freeways. There always seems to be more muscle when it’s needed. To compare, the Mercedes-Benz E 450 4Matic All Terrain enjoys 375 hp.
The ride quality is suitably sophisticated for one of the finest midsize luxury cars ever created, in our estimation, with the all-wheel-drive system providing reassurance in tricky conditions. The virtue of having a lower center of gravity than an SUV means handling talents with greater stability. Yet the A6 Allroad still has a somewhat raised driving position — getting in and out can be handled with dignity. And with higher ground clearance than an A6 sedan, it can tackle deeper snow.
The A6 Allroad, Mercedes-Benz E 450 4Matic All Terrain, and Volvo V90 Cross Country all achieve 25 mpg in combined city/highway driving.
If there’s an Audi cabin that isn’t impressive, full of smart design, quality materials, and great technology, we haven’t seen it. In true, uncluttered Audi form, the dashboard in the A6 Allroad is sparing with buttons but generous with tech. There are three screens. One is the Virtual Cockpit. The infotainment system has a 10.1-inch screen plus an 8.6-inch lower display. Standard equipment includes wireless Apple CarPlay and wired Android Auto. Audi also installs wireless charging and a phone signal booster.
Front occupants sit in comfortable, heated, 8-way power-adjustable seats, and everyone enjoys leather seating surfaces. The dual-pane sunroof, meanwhile, makes this spacious interior feel even airier.
The Volvo V90 Cross Country isn’t considered cramped in its rear quarters, but the A6 Allroad’s 37.4 inches of rear legroom beats it. Behind the rear seats (that split and fold in 40/20/40 fashion) is a massive 30 cubic feet of luggage space. Audi doesn’t quote a figure with those seats folded down, but the A6 Allroad has real SUV-like cargo capacity. The V90 Cross Country maxes out at 69 cubic feet. The Mercedes-Benz E 450 4Matic All Terrain has 33.1 cubic feet, expanding to 64.6 cubic feet.
Sitting 1.3 inches higher than the regular A6 sedan (whose ground clearance is 4.2 inches), the A6 Allroad also differs from its trunked stablemate with a wagon body style. But a wagon with a twist. Extra plastic cladding around the wheel arches adds to the SUV flavor, enhanced by a rear skid plate. Full body paint is another option, replacing the grey cladding with the same hue as the rest of the car. This is only available with some colors, however. Overall, we like the car’s understated lines and well-drawn proportions.
Adaptive air suspension
This standard feature is the secret behind the 2025 A6 Allroad’s driving versatility. It can keep relatively low on the freeways for optimum aerodynamics and handling, then its Off-Road mode lifts the car by another 1.2 inches for maximum ground clearance over rougher surfaces. We’ve found it also provides a luxurious cushioned-yet-controlled ride.
Virtual Cockpit
Another standard item, this configurable digital driver information display takes the place of a traditional instrument cluster. As well as the usual information like road speed and revs, the Virtual Cockpit can also show directions and Google Maps images from the standard navigation system.
Matrix-LED headlights
Consisting of many small LEDs controlled by sensors, these standard-issue headlights adapt their illumination to retain excellent vision for the driver, while not dazzling other road users.
Bang & Olufsen audio
The standard B&O surround-sound system is perfectly fine, in our opinion. The option for the Prestige trim comes with more speakers and greater wattage, accompanied by vehicle noise compensation. It does mean losing the spare wheel to accommodate a subwoofer, though.
Audi Side Assist
Most of us know this feature as blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert. It’s standard in the top Prestige trim and a worthwhile extra for the Premium Plus model.
Night Vision
Thermal imaging makes driving at night much easier, especially in places where wild animals might be roaming. Images are shown in the Virtual Cockpit. This is on the options list of both A6 Allroad trims.
Both trim levels of the 2025 A6 Allroad use the same drivetrain: a turbocharged 3.0-liter V6 paired with a 48-volt mild hybrid system. This extra piece of equipment provides an exceptionally smooth engine stop/restart function.
Using premium gasoline, output is 355 hp and 369 lb-ft of torque, almost 40 more horses than the Volvo V90 Cross Country. This energy goes to an all-wheel-drive system through a 7-speed automatic transmission.
Audi’s new-vehicle and powertrain warranties last four years or 50,000 miles, whichever happens first. This is typical for the luxury car bracket. Audi also throws in four years of roadside assistance.
Earlier model years of the A6 Allroad have been named a Top Safety Pick+ by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS). Last year’s version boasted top scores of Good in the three crash tests carried out by the institute. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has given the A6 Allroad a maximum overall score of five stars.
