Hoping to further capitalize on what turned out to be a very popular cosmetic enhancement introduced on the 2012 Dodge Charger SXT V6, Dodge has announced that the availability of the value-priced Blacktop Package is being expanded for 2013 to include the Avenger and Challenger lines as well as the Hemi-powered Charger R/T model. As the name implies, the exterior kit on these Blacktop special editions adds items like larger Gloss Black alloy wheels, Gloss Black “split-crosshair” grilles with matching surrounds, darkened headlamp bezels and body-color spoilers along with several unique interior touches.

Available on the 2013 Dodge Avenger SXT in Black, Redline Red 2, Bright White, Tungsten Metallic or Billet Silver Metallic, the Blacktop Package stickers for $595 and brings 18-inch alloys and a 6-speed automatic transmission with Auto Stick as well as automatic headlamps, projector fog lamps, 8-way power driver seat, leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift knob, 6-speaker audio package, automatic climate control, body-color heated exterior mirrors, SiriusXM Radio, an  Electronic Vehicle Information Center and more. Avenger Blacktop buyers can also upgrade to leather upholstery for $400.

The most dramatic looking Blacktop variant, the 2013 Dodge Challenger R/T — or the leather-lined and even more richly appointed R/T Plus — can be had in Pitch Black, Granite Crystal or Billet Silver Metallic. Here, the ebony enhancement upgrade brings all of the aforementioned Gloss Black bits while adding a full-length matte graphite body stripe with red edge accents. The R/T Blacktop also nets the Super Track Pak, which includes a high-performance-steering gear, upgraded brake linings, monotube-shock absorbers, 245/45 Goodyear Eagle F1 Super Car three-season (or no-cost all-season) tires and a tri-mode stability control system with a “full off” setting. Collectively, the Blacktop Package components add about $2,700 worth of content to this 375-horse Hemi-powered hauler but retail for just $1,995.

In addition to carrying over the existing Blacktop Package on the V6-powered 2013 Charger SXT/SXT Plus models, a Blackout variant of the 370-horsepower Hemi-fortified Charger R/T (and R/T Plus) will roll into showrooms this December along with its Avenger and Challenger siblings. Available in  Pitch Black, Billet Metallic, Granite Crystal, Bright White, Redline Red Tri-coat and Phantom Black Tri-coat, it basic roster of dedicated noir elements is enhanced with 20-inch alloy wheels, steering wheel-mounted paddle shifters, a Sport Mode stability control, 3.06:1 rear axle ratio and a 552-watt/10-speaker premium Beats Audio system. Cost for the Charger R/T’s Blackout Package is $1,795.
