The original Dodge Challenger made its debut 50 years ago and given Dodge’s reverence for its own muscle-car history, there’s no way that milestone was going to go unrecognized. Thus, we have the 2020 Dodge Challenger 50th Anniversary Edition, which commemorates the birthday of Dodge’s muscle car with a special package available across multiple Challenger models.
The Challenger 50th Anniversary Edition package is available on Challenger GT (RWD only), Challenger R/T Shaker, Challenger R/T Scat Pack Shaker, and Challenger R/T Scat Pack Shaker Widebody.
V6 and V8 power available
Engine choices and outputs are unchanged with the 50th Anniversary package. The GT uses a 303-horsepower 3.6-liter Pentastar V6. The R/T Shaker features the 5.7-liter Hemi V8 with 375 horsepower (6-speed manual) or 372 horses (8-speed automatic). The Scat Pack variants get a 6.4-liter Hemi V8 good for 485 horsepower and 475 lb-ft of torque.
All 50th Anniversary Edition models have a satin-black-painted hood and a matching wrap on the roof and decklid. The rear spoiler and the fuel-filler flap are also satin black and the latter includes retro-style “FUEL” lettering, while the grille is gloss black. The package also brings a Shaker hood scoop painted in body color for the V8 cars. 20-inch wheels in three available widths have a special gold finish, and the same finish is used on the exterior badging. A new Gold Rush paint color is one of seven available hues, which also include Frostbite, Hellraisin, Sinamon Stick, TorRed, F8 Green, and Go Mango.

Interior features special touches
Inside, the heated and ventilated seats are upholstered in black Nappa leather and Alcantara suede. Sepia contrast stitching is used throughout the cabin, and Berber-carpeted floor mats have a 50th Anniversary logo. The instrument cluster consists of white-faced gauges with yellow accents, is framed with carbon fiber trim, and features a unique start-up animation that includes the 1970 car.
Each of the four model variants and seven colors will be produced in a batch of 70 units (referencing the Challenger’s original model year). That makes for a total count of 1,960 50th Anniversary Edition cars.
The 50th Anniversary Edition package is priced at $4,995 for the GT, $5,495 for the R/T Shaker, and $5,995 for the two Scat Pack models. The package is available for order in December with deliveries in Spring 2020.
