Positive Review
Car: TLX I4 Tech. Smooth and quiet ride. Light, crisp and nimble handling. More than enough power for most types of driving. Excellent acceleration with 8 speed dual clutch transmission (DCT). Killer 455 watt, 10 speaker ELS sound system; loads of safety technology and premium Milano leather seats. Its selectable IDS driving modes (sport and sport+) will ADD thrill and excitement to your daily commute. This car is a JOY to drive. Take a test drive and see for yourself.
Critical Review
It seems like my new Acura TLX is having issues with it’s ZF 9-speed transmission. It hesitates and shifts hard going from 2nd to 3rd gear. A lot of TLX owners are upset about this and there is currently a 9-page thread on Acurazine about this issue. This same ZF 9-speed transmission is also used by the 2014 Range Rover Evoque, the 2014-2015 Jeep Cherokees, and the 2015 Chrysler 200s. These vehicles are also having transmission issues. Some TLX owners have found a workaround for this issue. However, many owners feel that they shouldn’t have to employ a workaround for a car that can cost up to $45,000. Unfortunately, Acura has not even acknowledged this issue. Several owners have taken their TLX to the dealer only to be told that there is no problem.

Reliable, Looks good, great gas mileage, comfortable interior
Outdated car system, no apple carplay
The 2017 Acura TLX 4-cylinder is a reliable, stylish, and efficient sedan. Despite being front-wheel drive, it handles Indiana’s snowy winters remarkably well, offering excellent traction and stability. Using premium fuel, I average an impressive 34 MPG on the highway, making it ideal for long commutes. The TLX combines smooth performance with a comfortable, well-designed interior, making it a top choice for reliability and year-round versatility. Highly recommended!
How can a car being recalled for a rod/engine replacement be called a good car? I don't care when the review was made, fix it or be as irrelevant as you have become!
V-6 sh-awd loaded Advance package
None
Ordered the car new. Never had any problems with it. Loaded with every feature. Sound system is the best and so quite you hear no road noise at all. The sh-awd grips the corners like a Indy car. The Advance model is the only TLX with fog lights unless you get the A-spec model. I wanted Lunar Silver and they don't make that color in a A-spec. I also have 360 camera and heated steering wheel and seats.
It’s exactly what I expected. The drives great, handles great and very comfortable. I’ve had zero mechanical issues.
Dependable
Not very comfortable for long rides
Very dependable, very good on gas The only grip I have is the front seats are not very comfortable for long rides.
Bought my Acura in 2020 and drove it for 3 years with little to no issues. Took it for an oil change recently and two separate leaks were discovered. Not happy about having to pay over $1500 for this, when my car is really only at 55,000 miles. Was planning on buying an RDX as my next car, but after having issues fairly early on, will not be purchasing another Acura sadly.
Power, style, fuel economy
Cheap interior, electrical gremlins, poor build.
I purchased this certified pre-owned with 32k miles. V6 with SH-AWD. SO fun to drive. I mean, the handling, power, etc is fantastic and made my hour + work commute a joy. That's where the positive ends. Good fuel mileage and have seen 30+ mpg on highway drives. Hood shakes at highway speeds. Entire dash lights up like an xmas tree and dealer can't figure out why. Developed a horrible miss at 67k miles with no codes so dealer can't fix. Tech in the car is far behind every other manufacturer and the audio system is horrendous without ELS. The vehicle could have been great. Add some luxury touches at least to get on par with Subaru. Fix the gremlins, and the car would have been a keeper.
The v6 has power to spare and rides very quietly. The infotainment with 2 screens is awkward and sometimes slow to respond. Overall nice styling and very pleasant to drive.
