"Performance-Quality-Style"

2021 Acura RDX SH-AWD Advanced Package. Excellent performance with SH-AWD. I drive in soft sand at the beach and go up north in mountain snow areas. I need extremely capable off-road ability. Very good agility on the road. High quality vehicle with luxury everywhere. Very comfortable seating. Good cargo space. Extremely stylish looking SUV.

Critical Review

"Avoid, vehicle defective manufacturer wont fix"

Cars infotainment system died, no radio, no hands free calling, no gps etc. I've called Acura 7 total times now, finally heard they know it's a problem and don't have a fix or eta on a fix so in the mean time I'll just have to deal with it (their words), how is this except able for a "luxury" vehicle? Customer service hung up on me twice before i got an answer, most unprofessional group I've had the misfortune to try and contact

Pretty great
Pros

Styling, handling, panoramic roof

Cons

A few rattles, no touch screen, push button shifter.

I’ve owned at least one Acura since 2000. I’ve owned a few other brands that I like as well or better. But Acura is good value, great styling and handling, reasonable maintenance costs, many luxury features, etc. We had a 2019 RDX we traded on a 2023 Toyota Venza Limited, we also had a 2017 RDX that I traded on a 2022 RDX. I did not enjoy the 2017, although it was reliable. I’d say if you are looking for used get a 2022 RDX or newer. There are enough improvements that it’s worth it. (Sound deadening, wireless CarPlay, wireless charging, ambient lighting, digital speedometer, styling to front and rear). I’m very happy with my 2022, but the infotainment is not as intuitive as some others and it could use an expanded driver display. The wireless CarPlay improves function over the 2019. We like the Toyota infotainment though so we take it on trips because of that and the hybrid gas mileage. My 2022 is FWD and the 2019 was SHAWD. I didn’t need AWD and I cannot tell much difference in handling.

No More Acuras
Pros

engine, handling

Cons

infotainment system is a nightmare

The method of interaction with infotainment screen and the unreliability of infotainment alone has helped me to realize that I will never again own an Acura product. I love the way it drives (drivetrain, handling, seat comfort is all great) but in the end sometimes a little thing like the electronics package will sink you. Also, I hate putting in premium gas. I won't buy another vehicle that requires premium gas either.

Disappointed Acura Owner

CarPlay Dangerously Flawed

I purchased this car in 2019 and from day one the CarPlay feature has been a disaster. I have nearly crashed more times than I can count because of the horrible functionality (or lack thereof). In and out of the dealership to 'fix' but all attempts were unsuccessful. I have several other issues with this car's performance, but CarPlay is the biggest problem. A lot of money spent on a luxury brand. Unacceptable.

One of the best in its class.
Pros

Very comfortable day drive. Sporty and fun!

Cons

Not quite as agile as an X3 or Porche Macan.

I drove a number of SUVs before buying the Advance model, including the NX and X3. The combination of features and the driving experience of the Acura sold me, along with the reliability factor and reasonable cost for any repairs.

Creaky, squeaky, and gas-heavy
Pros

Design and driving

Cons

Quality control

I tried to love this vehicle; however, the quality control ruined my experience. Throughout my ownership, the car had numerous annoyances like squeaky brakes, a horribly loud creaking noise when going over any speedbump, and an overall terrible MPG. On top of that, I had to reset the infotainment system about once a month due to unresponsiveness. The headaches and head scratches outweighed the pros; therefore, I decided to sell the car and purchase a Lexus.

CarPlay integration is borderline deadly
Pros

good engine/transmission

Cons

horrendous infotainment

If you plan on not using carplay or android auto, there aren’t any concerns to be made. I have on multiple occasions faced near crash experiences when fumbling with the barely functional touchpad. Come on Acura, touch screens are a bare minimum at this price level. If you care about the safety of yourself or your loved ones, look elsewhere.
