Pros

  • Many standard features
  • Roomy seating
  • Good infotainment system

Cons

  • Showing its age

What's New?

  • ST Interior Appearance Package

The Ford Edge is a stalwart in the midsize 2-row SUV segment. It’s characterized by its spacious 2-row interior, long list of features for the money, and a more engaging driving experience than you might expect to find in this segment. It gets especially fun to drive in the sporty ST trim. If a compact SUV is too small and a 3-row SUV is too big, the Ford Edge may be just right. It competes with SUVs like the Chevrolet Blazer, Nissan Murano, and Honda Passport.

2023 Ford Edge Pricing

2023 Ford Edge pricing starts at $22,890 for the Edge SE Sport Utility 4D, which had a starting MSRP of $39,440 when new. The range-topping 2023 Edge ST Sport Utility 4D starts at $30,706 today, originally priced from $47,980.

The Kelley Blue Book Fair Purchase Price for any individual used vehicle can vary greatly according to mileage, condition, location, and other factors. The prices here reflect what buyers are currently paying for used 2023 Ford Edge models in typical condition when purchasing from a dealership. These prices are updated weekly.

Driving the Ford Edge

The Ford Edge has two turbocharged engines available, and it’s hard to find fault in either of them. The base (and most popular) engine is a turbocharged 4-cylinder that finds a healthy balance of performance and efficiency.

As for handling, the Edge has more driving pizzazz than the typical midsize SUV. The well-tuned chassis makes it pretty agile around corners without sacrificing long-distance comfort on the highway. The lively performance in Sport mode is a pleasant surprise.

Speaking of performance, the turbo V6-powered Edge ST is excellent for driving enthusiasts who need a practical SUV. The powerful engine, sport suspension, and available performance brakes make the Edge ST one of the most exciting performance SUVs from a non-luxury brand.

Well-Appointed Interior

The Ford Edge has a comfortable interior with roomy seating space. We found the rear seats to be adult-friendly, and the cargo space is about average for this class. This is a great SUV if you want something bigger than a compact SUV, but don’t need three rows of seats.

One small detail we appreciate is the abundance of cubbies and clever storage areas in the Edge. Every passenger will easily find a spot to put their phone. Also, the Edge has a center console that’s nice and deep, which helps keep the interior decluttered.

The Edge doesn’t ask you to upgrade through the trims or add a pricey option package to get the good infotainment system. Every Edge comes standard with SYNC 4A, which boasts a 12-inch screen with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay and a 4G LTE Wi-Fi hotspot.

Stylish Exterior

The Ford Edge has a stylish design with a hint of sportiness in its body lines. The ST model has a distinct appearance package, and there are a few option packages, like the Sport Appearance Package and Black Appearance Package adding some customizability to this SUV’s aesthetic.

Our Favorite Features and Tech

SYNC 4A
The SYNC 4A infotainment system comes standard on every Ford Edge. It has a big 12-inch touchscreen and wireless smartphone connectivity features, making it easy to manage your maps and music.

Ford CoPilot360
The Ford CoPilot360 safety tech suite bundles driver assistance features like automatic emergency braking, lane-keep assist, blind-spot monitoring, and automatic high beams. Additional optional safety features include adaptive cruise control, evasive steering assist, and enhanced active park assist.

Standard AWD
Don’t worry about the all-wheel drive (AWD) driving the price tag up; it comes standard on every 2023 Ford Edge. All-wheel drive adds confident traction in all-season driving conditions, which goes a long way if you live in a snowy climate.

Edge ST
The sporty Edge ST has few peers in this segment. It packs a powerful turbocharged V6 under the hood, a sport-tuned suspension, and a sporty appearance inside and out to match its exciting performance.

Titanium Elite Package
This optional package for the Titanium trim gives the Edge a more luxurious presence. It adds 20-inch polished wheels, tasteful chrome exterior touches, 3D Diamond interior trim, and unique Ebony and Carmelo seats with distinct accent stitching throughout the interior.

Panoramic Vista Roof
The available twin-panel Vista Roof opens up the Edge’s interior for a more airy and luxurious feel. It opens and closes at the touch of a button, plus it has a power sunshade.

Engine & Transmission

The 2023 Ford Edge lineup features two excellent engine choices.

Popular Engine

The most popular engine in the Ford Edge is an “EcoBoost” turbocharged 4-cylinder. It’s an eager engine that enables quick acceleration and returns pretty good fuel economy for an SUV this size with all-wheel drive. It’s mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission that delivers quick and smooth shifts.

2.0-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder
250 horsepower @ 5,500 rpm
280 lb-ft of torque @ 3,000 rpm
EPA city/highway fuel economy, est.: 21/28 mpg

Sporty V6

A mighty twin-turbo V6 powers the Edge ST. This is a significant performance upgrade compared to the base 4-cylinder, but you’ll be paying for it at the pump. You’ll love the Edge ST if you prioritize driving excitement over fuel economy.

Power goes to all four wheels via a 7-speed automatic transmission with paddle shifters.

2.7-liter twin-turbocharged V6
335 horsepower @ 5,550 rpm
380 lb-ft of torque @ 3,250 rpm
EPA city/highway fuel economy, est.: 19/25 mpg

More Edge fuel economy information is available on the EPA’s website.

3-Year/36,000-Mile Warranty

The 2023 Ford Edge is backed by a 3-year/36,000-mile basic warranty and a 5-year/60,000-mile powertrain warranty. This coverage is typical among the competition.
