The Ford Edge is a compelling choice in midsize 2-row crossover SUVs for its sharp styling, spacious interior, and engaging performance. If a compact crossover like the Ford Escape is too small and a 3-row SUV like the Ford Explorer is too big, then the Ford Edge is just right.
It has the space and versatility of a midsize SUV while being more agile and maneuverable than bigger 3-row crossovers. Seating in both rows is quite spacious, making it suitable for families that don’t need more than five seats.
The Ford Edge competes with midsize 2-row crossover SUVs like the Chevrolet Blazer, Nissan Murano, and Hyundai Santa Fe. This Ford has the distinction of standard all-wheel drive and a high-performance ST model, but its interior quality is a little lacking compared to most rivals.
2022 Ford Edge pricing starts at $19,784 for the Edge SE Sport Utility 4D, which had a starting MSRP of $39,440 when new. The range-topping 2022 Edge ST Sport Utility 4D starts at $29,081 today, originally priced from $47,980.

The Kelley Blue Book Fair Purchase Price for any individual used vehicle can vary greatly according to mileage, condition, location, and other factors. The Ford Edge has a more fun driving character than most crossovers in this class. The standard engine is peppy, and the handling is more agile than you might expect for a midsize SUV. It’s also comfortable in around-town driving and highway cruising.
If you’re willing to sacrifice some comfort for extra performance, the sporty Ford Edge ST is a rare breed. This practical SUV delivers real excitement to the driver with a twin-turbo V6 engine, a sport-tuned suspension, and grippy tires. It’s a little stiff over rough road surfaces, but it’s a worthwhile trade-off if you appreciate a sporty driving experience.
Newly standard all-wheel drive contributes to an enjoyable drive. It also goes a long way in improving all-weather traction, making the Edge a good choice for drivers in snowy climates.
The inside of the mid-size Edge is spacious for people and cargo. There’s plenty of legroom and headroom in both rows of seats, and the back seats accommodate kids and adults alike.
The design of this interior is starting to look a little dated, though the tablet-like 12-inch central infotainment screen is impressive. The quality of the materials is just okay compared to most of its rivals. Interior quality improves in the upper trims with luxuries like leather seats, satin accents, and ambient lighting in the Titanium model.
The cargo space in the Edge is about average for a midsize 2-row crossover. It has more cargo space than a compact SUV like the Ford Escape but less than a bigger 3-row SUV.
The Ford Edge is a stylish SUV with a touch of premium personality. The grille and light signature look upscale, and the body lines make it look a little muscular.
The look of the Edge changes a bit depending on which trim you go with. For example, the ST and ST-Line have a sporty appearance package, and the Titanium model looks more luxurious.
A new Adventure Package adds an off-roady look with unique wheels, a distinct front bumper, a roof rack with black side rails, and more. There’s also a new Black Appearance Package that adds a darker look with tasteful black trim.
The size of the Ford Edge is right in line with the midsize 2-row SUV class. It’s roughly the same size as the Chevy Blazer, Hyundai Santa Fe, and Honda Passport.
STANDARD AWD
Our favorite update for the 2022 Ford Edge is standard all-wheel drive on every trim for confidence-inspiring traction.
SPORTY ST TRIM
The ST model is powered by a mighty twin-turbo V6 engine that delivers an authentically sporty driving experience in a practical SUV.
One of the strong suits of the Ford Edge is a generous list of standard features. The base SE model includes a turbocharged 4-cylinder engine, all-wheel drive, 18-inch aluminum wheels, LED lighting, dual-zone automatic climate control, a rotary shifter, 60/40 split folding back seats, and more.
The standard SYNC 4A infotainment system has a user-friendly 12-inch vertically oriented screen loaded with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay plus SiriusXM, Wi-Fi hotspot capability, and 6-speaker audio.
The standard Ford Co-Pilot360 safety tech suite includes automatic high beams, blind-spot monitoring with cross-traffic alert, a lane-keeping system, pre-collision assist with automatic emergency braking, and a backup camera. Post-collision braking and rear parking sensors also come standard.
There aren’t many options you can add to the SE trim other than a Black Appearance Package, which is exactly what it sounds like.
The SEL trim doesn’t add a whole lot on its own, but it has some option packages available that you can’t get on the SE. LED signature lighting, 18-inch wheels, ActiveX simulated leather seating, heated and power-adjustable front seats, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, and an auto-dimming mirror all come standard on SEL.
An available Convenience Package adds a 110V power outlet, front fog lights, a power liftgate, a perimeter alarm, remote start, a universal garage door opener, and wireless phone charging. The new Adventure Package adds an off-road-inspired aesthetic but unfortunately doesn’t add any mechanical upgrades that make it a better off-roader.
A few individual features you can add to the SEL model include a heated steering wheel, a panoramic moonroof, and a tow package.
A Ford Co-Pilot360 Assist+ package available on all but the SE trim adds full-speed adaptive cruise control with lane centering, evasive steering assist, and navigation.
The ST-Line and Titanium trims start at the same price and give different personalities to the Ford Edge. ST-Line adds the look of the high-performance ST model but doesn’t add the performance upgrades. The Titanium model is the most luxurious form of the Edge with more chrome, leather seating, B&O premium audio, and more.
Finally, the Edge ST is one of the most high-performance SUVs in its class. On top of the powerful twin-turbo V6 engine, upgrades include a Ford Performance-tuned suspension, active noise control, B&O premium audio, a sporty appearance package with 20-inch wheels, a unique instrument cluster, leather-trimmed seats with Miko inserts, generously bolstered front seats, special floor mats, and more.
An available ST Performance Brake Package upgrades the brakes, wheels, and tires.
Most 2022 Ford Edge models are equipped with a 2.0-liter turbocharged inline-4. This engine delivers a satisfying balance of power and efficiency. The ST model turns up the heat with a 2.7-liter twin-turbo V6, giving this practical crossover the performance of a hot hatchback.
The 4-cylinder engine is linked to an 8-speed automatic transmission, and the V6 uses a 7-speed. With the 2022 model year, all Edge models now come standard with all-wheel drive.
The maximum towing capacity of the Edge is 3,500 pounds when equipped with the optional Class II Tow Package.
